How to take care of Dry Skin this Winter

It's the New Year, it's Winter, and the temperatures have plummeted. No one wants dry, flaky, itchy skin this winter. It's bad for your skin barrier, looks awful under make-up and doesn't promote healthy aging. Here are some tips, tricks, and recommended products to take care of your skin during this winter season.

  1. Don't wash your face with a foaming cleanser in the morning. If you have a dry skin type, and don't tend to get too sweaty at night then skipping the morning wash might be a good choice for you. Simply use some warm water or a hydrating toner with a cotton pad to gently exfoliate and you'll be good to go. You don't need to strip your skin even more when it's too cold outside.
  2. Layer a serum underneath your moisturiser. Sometimes, you just need a little bit extra to really hydrate your skin and lock in the moisture. A lot of us skip this step in the morning (i personally hate sticky skin if it's hot outside), but during Winter you'd be surprised as to how quickly everything absorbs. We recommend Arencia's Holy Hyssop Serum or Muihood's Tao Rice Water Essence for the extra moisture and glow you're looking for.
  3. Hydrating Sunscreen is your best friend. Just because it's colder and cloudier, doesn't mean you don't need SPF. Layering it over your normal moisturiser is key to protection and extra hydration. Try the famous Beauty of Joseon Rice Relief Sun to protect your skin, and even out any dark spots that won't budge.
  4. Try using a humidifier or taking more hot baths. The steam is good for keeping your skin hydrated, and layer products on while it's still damp to retain as much moisture as possible. This way, it'll feel more hydrated for a lot longer.
