Do you really need SPF all year round?

We've all heard it: "The key to beautiful glass skin is wearing SPF all year round, even during winter." Is this really true?

The short answer is Yes- absolutely. But why?

UVA rays are the main cause behind premature aging. Long-term exposure leads to cumulative damage, more dark spots caused by sun exposure etc. While UVB rays do get weaker during Winter, UVA rays stay consistent year-round and can cause deep skin damage. These also penetrate through clouds and glass, making them almost impossible to avoid.

Now that the weather is getting warmer, and we are seeing the sun more and more this spring, it is more important than ever to make sure you have invested into the right sun protection for your face. It shouldn't feel cakey, heavy or like a chore to put on. And no, a moisturiser or foundation with built in SPF is not enough.

If you want to age healthier, and protect your skin, SPF is a non-negotiable in all seasons. Our recommendation? The cult favourite k-beauty hit: Beauty of Joseon's Rice Relief Sun. There's two versions, the OG Rice Relief Sun: creamy, hydrating and SPF 50, UVA and UVB. If the original is too hydrating for you, or your skin is on the oilier side, then the Aqua Fresh variant could be perfect for you. Same great benefits of brightening rice with SPF 50+, but a lot lighter on the skin making it perfect for Summer. Beauty of Joseon is a 100% cruelty-free brand, and both sunscreens are also 100% Vegan.
